2018 Session

The 2018 Legislative session included numerous bills affecting public defense in Louisiana. The legislature requested fiscal impact statements on numerous instruments. While the Legislature was unable to agree on state funding during the regular session, LPDB ultimately received an appropriation amounting to an increase in its state appropriation of nearly $2,000,000.
HB 1/Act 2 of the Second Extraordinary Session (Representative Henry): The Legislature appropriated $35,870,797 to the Louisiana Public Defender Board through its Public Defender Fund, Indigent Parent Representation Program Fund, and DNA Testing-Post Conviction Relief for Indigents Fund.
